Dermal Fillers Singapore
Volume loss is one of the most significant and least discussed changes that comes with hormonal ageing. As oestrogen levels decline during perimenopause, the fat pads beneath the skin begin to thin, shrink, and shift. Bone density in the face gradually reduces, causing the face to look sunken and older.
Dermal fillers address this directly by injecting substances ( e.g. HA, collagen stimulating properties) to restore lost volume and improve facial contour in a way that looks refreshed rather than altered.
With fillers, the goal is never to change how you look, but restore the version of yourself that was lost due to time and hormonal changes.
How Fillers Work
Hyaluronic acid fillers are injected into specific layers beneath the skin using fine needles or cannulas. The filler integrates with surrounding tissue, allowing natural facial movement and expression to continue. The hyaluronic acid attracts water from surrounding tissue, gradually settling into its final shape over 1 to 2 weeks. Modern hyaluronic acid fillers are temporary, reversible, and metabolised gradually by the body over 9 to 18 months.
Cheek volume and midface
The midface is typically where volume loss is first and most visibly noticeable. Restoring volume here lifts the face naturally, reduces nasolabial fold depth, and recreates the gentle contour that youthful facial structure has.
Tear trough and under-eye hollowing
The tear trough becomes more pronounced as fat pads thin with age. This hollowing creates a shadow that reads as a dark circle even when no pigmentation is present. Tear trough filler carefully restores volume, reducing the shadowed appearance without changing eye shape.
Nasolabial folds and marionette lines
Deep folds from nose to mouth, and lines from the corners of the mouth downward, are driven primarily by loss of structural support. Addressing the underlying volume loss produces a more natural and lasting result than simply filling the fold.
Lip volume and definition
Lips thin gradually from the mid-30s, with hormonal changes in perimenopause accelerating this process. Lip filler restores natural fullness and definition without an obviously treated appearance when done conservatively.
Jawline and chin
Subtle refinement of the jawline and chin improves overall facial balance and can reduce the appearance of early jowling.
Types of Fillers We Carry
– for facial volumising and contouring
How It Works
Injectable HA fillers use a cross-linked (stabilised) form of hyaluronic acid that integrates with surrounding tissue and holds its shape for months before being gradually metabolised by the body.
Key Properties
Natural-looking results, reversible with hyaluronidase enzyme, gradual metabolisation over 9 to 12 months depending on the area.
– for deep structural support
How It Works
For areas requiring more significant volumisation and structural lift – particularly the jawline, chin, and deep cheek scaffold– a high-density HA filler formulated specifically for deep injection provides greater projection and longer-lasting structural support than standard HA fillers.
Key Properties
Greater lift capacity and projection, suited to deep structural placement, firm result with natural facial movement, reversible with hyaluronidase enzyme, results typically lasting 12 to 18 months or longer in structural areas.
– for volume and long-term structural rebuilding
How It Works
These products use calcium-based microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. The gel provides immediate volumisation on injection, and as it is gradually absorbed by the body over the following weeks, the calcium microspheres remain and act as a scaffold that stimulates fibroblast activity and new collagen formation in the surrounding tissue.
Key Properties
An initial volumising effect that is then sustained and enhanced by the body's own collagen production, producing results that last longer than standard HA fillers (typically 12 to 18 months or more) and that improve the intrinsic quality of the tissue in the treated area over time.
This type of filler is particularly suited to areas where skin quality as well as volume needs attention, such as the hands, décolletage, and areas of significant skin laxity. It is not reversible with hyaluronidase and requires individual assessment to determine suitability.

What Your Filler Journey Looks Like
During treatment
Skin is cleaned and topical numbing cream applied. Most hyaluronic acid fillers contain a small amount of local anaesthetic. Sessions take 30 to 60 minutes depending on areas treated.
After treatment
Some swelling and mild bruising at injection sites is normal. Swelling typically resolves within 3 to 5 days; bruising within a week. Strenuous exercise and heat exposure are best avoided for 24 hours.
Results and treatment schedule
Improvement is visible immediately, with final results settling over 2 weeks. Results last 9 to 18 months depending on the area treated and product used. Areas with more muscle movement tend to metabolise filler faster.
How Much Does Fillers Cost at Prologue?
Fillers starts from $700 per session. The final cost depends on your skin condition, the number of sessions recommended, and the extent of treatment required, all of which are assessed and discussed during your consultation before any commitment is made.
FAQ
Will dermal fillers make me look fake or overdone?
The overdone look comes from too much product, the wrong product for the area, or inappropriate placement – not from fillers themselves. We take a conservative, proportional approach – no additional product is placed unless both patient and doctor are satisfied with the result.
Is the treatment reversible?
It depends on the type of filler used. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using hyaluronidase enzyme.
How long do dermal fillers last?
As a general guide: cheeks and midface 12 to 18 months; nasolabial folds 9 to 12 months; lips 6 to 9 months; tear trough often more than 12 months. Individual metabolism and lifestyle also influence longevity.
Can we take a conservative approach for my first time?
Absolutely, and we encourage it. Starting conservatively, assessing the result once everything has settled, and adding incrementally if needed is both safer and more likely to produce a result you are happy with long-term.
I am pregnant. Can I do dermal fillers?
We do not perform this treatment during pregnancy. This is a precautionary measure to ensure your safety and your baby’s and not a reflection of the treatment’s risk profile in general. If you are currently pregnant and looking for support, we offer a range of women’s wellness services to support you through your pregnancy journey. Please reach out and we will point you in the right direction.
Are fillers safe for breastfeeding mothers?
Yes. This treatment is considered safe for women who are breastfeeding. If you have any specific concerns, please mention this at your consultation and our doctor will advise accordingly.
How many months postpartum do I need to be before starting this treatment?
We recommend waiting until at least 6 months postpartum before beginning treatment. This allows your body adequate time to recover from delivery and for your hormone levels to begin stabilising – both of which influence how your skin responds to treatment and the results you can expect.
