Tightsculpting – Non-Surgical Body Tightening for the Postpartum Body

If your tummy has not bounced back the way you hoped after pregnancy and you still have loose, crepey, or softer skin that persists even after your weight has returned, you are experiencing one of the most common and least-talked-about parts of postpartum recovery.

Tightsculpting is a non-invasive laser treatment that combines deep heating to tighten skin with targeted heating to reduce stubborn fat.

Why Mummy Tummy Exists

During pregnancy the abdominal skin stretches considerably, and the collagen and elastin fibres that give skin its firmness are stretched and damaged in the process. Some natural retraction happens over the first 6 to 12 months after delivery, but stretched, damaged collagen fibres do not always return to their original structure, which is why some laxity persists.

Two other things commonly contribute:

  • Diastasis recti: A separation of the abdominal muscles along the midline, very common after pregnancy. When the muscle support beneath the skin is weakened, the abdominal wall can push forward and the skin looks even more lax.

  • Stubborn fat retention across the lower abdomen, often resistant to diet and exercise, which combines with laxity and weight retention.

These postpartum abdominal changes are common, lack effective prevention, and are often resistant to lifestyle-based interventions alone. Non-invasive energy-based treatments such as radiofrequency can treat them rather effectively (Clinical Evaluation of Non-Invasive Postpartum Abdominal Treatment, PMC, 2025).

How Tightsculpting Works

TightSculpting uses laser energy at two depths in a two-step process:

  • Skin tightening: Controlled deep heating of the dermis stimulates the skin’s natural collagen production, which firms and tightens lax skin over the following months. Non-invasive energy treatments restore skin quality by stimulating natural collagen and elastin without surgery or downtime.

  • Fat reduction: Targeted heating of the deeper fat layer works to reduce localised, stubborn fat pockets.

Together these address the two components of a soft, lax area at once. It is non-invasive, with no need for surgery.

Is TightSculpting Effective for Skin Tightening and Slimming?

Tightsculpting is a non-surgical treatment. It can produce real, visible improvement in mild to moderate skin laxity and stubborn fat, but it is not a substitute for surgery in cases of significant excess skin or muscle separation.

If your main issue is diastasis recti or a large amount of loose skin, your doctor will tell you honestly whether this treatment is right for you.

TightSculpting is effective for:

  • Loose, crepey skin on the postpartum tummy
  • Stubborn fat pockets resistant to diet and exercise (lower abdomen, flanks, and other body areas)
  • Mild to moderate skin laxity on the body

What results can I expect from TightSculpting?

You can expect to see:

  • Gradually firmer, tighter skin in the treated area as collagen rebuilds over the months following treatment
  • A reduction in stubborn, localised fat
  • A smoother, more toned contour

What Areas of the Body Can TightSculpting Treat?

Tightsculpting can be used on most areas of the body where there is stubborn fat or mild-to-moderate loose skin. The most commonly treated areas are the abdomen, flanks (love handles), thighs, upper arms, buttocks, and the back.

For women after pregnancy, the abdomen is the most requested area, targeting both the loose, crepey skin and the stubborn lower-tummy fat that often persists even after weight has returned. As TightSculpting works on both skin firmness and fat at the same time, it suits areas where the two concerns occur together.

What Your Tightsculpting Journey Looks Like

During treatment

The treatment area is cleansed and the laser is applied in the two-step process. Most patients describe a comfortable, warming sensation. A session typically takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on the area.

After treatment

Minimal downtime. Mild redness or warmth in the area usually settles within a few hours. Normal activities can be resumed the same day.

Results and treatment schedule

Results build gradually over the months following treatment as collagen rebuilds. A course of multiple sessions is usually recommended for best results. Dr Sue will advise on the right number for your goals.

How Much Does Tightsculpting Cost at Prologue?

Tightsculpting starts from $1200 per session. The final cost depends on the area treated, the number of sessions recommended, and your goals. All these are assessed and discussed during your consultation before any commitment.

FAQ

Does Tightsculpting help with loose skin after pregnancy?

TightSculpting can help with mild to moderate postpartum skin laxity by stimulating collagen to firm the skin, while also reducing stubborn fat. Postpartum abdominal changes are common and often resistant to lifestyle measures alone, and non-invasive energy treatments have an established role in addressing them. Significant excess skin may need a surgical solution, which your doctor can advise on.

No. Tightsculpting works on skin and fat, not on the separated abdominal muscles. Diastasis recti can be addressed through physiotherapy or EMBODY treatment.

No. It is a non-invasive laser treatment and an option for women who want to avoid or are not ready for surgery.

We recommend waiting until at least 6 months postpartum before beginning treatment.

Yes. This treatment is considered safe for women who are breastfeeding. If you have any specific concerns, please mention this at your consultation and Dr Sue will advise accordingly.

Most patients find it comfortable, describing a warming sensation. There is no need for numbing for most people.

A course of multiple sessions is usually recommended, with results building over the following months. Your doctor will advise based on the area and your goals.

Because the treatment works by stimulating your own collagen, results are gradual and build over the months after treatment, rather than appearing immediately.

The abdomen is a common area for postpartum patients; other body areas may also be treatable.
